Trekking a Siena e Toscana con 43° Parallelo

Siena Hikes

For those who want something more than a simple hike. Explorations of ravines and caves, night hikes, backcountry multiday hikes.

Botro ai Buchi, Fosso Rigotaglio, Torrente Tresa

Nice approach hikes and three limestone gorges really unexpected in our gentle hills. Although not technical, these walks will offer great emotions.

Speleology

In the Montagnola Senese there are over 60 caves. In some of these it is possible to organize nice explorations without any technical equipment but with some simple precautions. Nice approach walks will introduce you in the world of karstic phenomena and fauna.

Canale del Grenduca

Peculiar path inside this reclaim tunnel of an old, now-dry lake. This land, just outside the city of Siena, was reclaimed at the end of 1700 thanks to this brilliant and inventing hydraulic work, still operating and accessible in the entire length with some simple precautions.

Night Hikes

In full moon nights listening to noises and searching animals gathering for water. Or in new moon nights watching the stars and orienting with them.

Backcountry Hikes

Big round trip tours in all Reserve Areas; stretches of Via Francigena from 40 to 200km; expeditions from Siena to the sea or from Siena to Florence entirely in the woods; crossing of Pratomagno, 30km of ridge between Florence and Arezzo; integral descent of rivers. You can decide the kind of equipment you prefer (both for meals and overnight): heavy backpack for experienced hikers or small backpack for those who want the help of a 4wd.
