Speleologia
The Sienese Montagnola, a few kilometers away from Siena, is a big karst area where the limestone has been eroded and carved by the water. One of the most interesting result of this phenomenon are the caves. Some of these can be an exciting destination for the hiker looking for an unusual outdoor day. Anyway, visitors don't need any particular skill or equipment: good spirit, good physical condition and a good Guide are enough to enjoy these thrilling places. Hiking stretches are pretty easy and some of the visits can be done in half a day, especially with small groups. Longer loops and more difficult caves will require the whole day.
